How
eSylvan
has
helped
Sarah
Hinderberger,
a
student
from
Maryland
Sarah
Hinderberger
is
a
ninth
grade
student
whose
mother
enrolled
her
in
the
eSylvan
program
toward
the
end
of
eighth
grade
because
of
her
weak
math
skills.
Her
mother
hoped
eSylvan
would
help
her
improve
her
grades
-
and
build
her
confidence.
Bonny
Eisenbise,
Sarah's
mother,
in
her
own
words
Sarah
did
not
get
terrific
math
grades
in
eighth
grade.
While
she
always
had
a
pretty
good
attitude
about
studying,
her
low
math
grades
made
her
feel
that
she
was
a
poor
student,
which
in
turn
affected
her
self-confidence.
She
would
often
say,
"I'm
stupid,"
because
of
her
poor
grades
in
math.
The
eSylvan
online
tutoring
service
was
appealing
for
several
reasons.
The
primary
reason
was,
of
course,
that
it
would
give
Sarah
the
help
she
needed
to
improve
her
math
grades.
However,
it
was
also
appealing
because
Sarah
could
practice
and
improve
her
math
skills
from
the
convenience
of
our
home
-
without
having
to
get
in
the
car
and
physically
go
to
a
tutor.
In
turn,
it
was
appealing
for
me
because
I
didn't
have
to
drive
Sarah
to
her
tutoring
sessions,
making
it
much
easier
on
my
schedule.
Sarah
really
likes
the
idea
of
tutoring
from
home
on
her
own
computer
with
eSylvan.
She
likes
that
she
feels
she
learns
something
from
each
lesson
and
she
is
very
diligent
about
keeping
up
with
her
eSylvan
sessions.
I
don't
even
have
to
remind
her
about
her
next
session.
When
I
check
on
her,
she's
already
online
and
has
been
working
with
her
eSylvan
tutor
for
ten
minutes
already.
eSylvan
has
definitely
helped
Sarah
improve
her
grades,
and
she
no
longer
feels
like
a
poor
student.
I
have
attended
some
of
Sarah's
parent-teacher
conferences
in
school
and
her
teachers
have
made
note
of
how
hard-working
she
is
and
how
well
she
is
doing
in
math.
